Acupuncture & Cupping
Acupuncture has been practiced for over 2500 years. It treats a variety of conditions by triggering specific points with needles. It is minimally invasive and stimulates nerve-rich areas in the skin surface in order to influence tissue, glands, organs, muscles and various functions of the body.
Cupping has been used for hundreds of years to ease back pain, neck pain, headaches and other problems. Cupping therapy creates a suction force to pull blood into muscle and skin where the cups are placed, this may relieve muscle tension (like a deep tissue massage), improving blood flow and promoting cell repair. It may also help to form new connective tissue and create new blood vessels in the tissue. Nutrients that are needed to heal the area are increased. Endorphins that relieve pain are also released.
At insertion, each needle produces a small inflammatory response at the site, it's slight enough to cause little to no discomfort to you, but enough for the body to know to respond. This response involves stimulation of the immune system, promoting circulation to the area, wound healing and pain modulation.
